The Lewis County Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, service oriented Library Director to provide leadership and oversee library operations. The library serves a community of approximately 13,275 and has 3 full-time and 2 part-time staff. Lewis County is located in northeast Kentucky, approximately 50 miles from Lexington, KY. The Director is responsible for planning and supervising the overall operation of the library and bookmobile, including collection, staff, public relations, programming, fiscal and building management and reports to the library board of trustees.Essential duties include ensuring a high level of patron service and public goodwill; establishing and meeting priorities, procedures, and general practices for the library; preparing annual budgets for approval of the Board, directing the expenditure of Library funds and allocation of resources; and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with community leaders and groups, other library leaders and general public. A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required. The successful completion of a background check prior to employment is required. Other preferred qualifi cations include excellent interpersonal skills, experience in providing sound fiscal planning and management, a thorough knowledge of current trends, technology, and best practices for the library.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
PROFESSIONAL III - Bachelor's degree with at least 21 graduate or undergraduate college credit hours in library science OR Master's degree with at least 15 graduate or undergraduate college credit hours in library science.

PROFESSIONAL IV - Bachelor's degree with at least 9 graduate or undergraduate hours in library science and 6 graduate or undergraduate college credit hours in a job related field of study OR Master's degree with 6 graduate or undergraduate college credit hours in library science and 3 graduate or undergraduate college credit hours in a job related field of study.

Salary is negotiable but this position includes paid holidays, vacation days, sick days, medical insurance and retirement through the Kentucky Retirement System.
